Shimla:The Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution & Professional Skills at Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, organized the inaugural Samanvay International Mediation Competition, 2023, at their Shimla campus.

 Over 24 teams, including prestigious universities like the National University of Singapore and Jindal Global Law School, participated.

The competition began with online preliminary rounds on October 21-22, 2023, and advanced rounds were held in person at the university on November 4-5, 2023. During the valedictory session, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nishtha Jaswal, stressed the importance of mediation in resolving disputes and suggested learning from India's ancient history for modern justice administration.

The winning team was Ms. Muskan Khatana and Ms. Viraja Shah from Global Jindal Law School, Sonipat, while the runners-up were Ms. Ananya Kalia and Ms. Aditi Baluja from University Institute of Legal Studies, Punjab University. Ms. Jasmeen Kaur from Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, received the Best Mediator award.

The event was organized in collaboration with various partners and offered internship opportunities to the competition winners.
