MANDI:  Grand old 'light of journalism' in this temple town has been snaped out: Hemkant Katyayan is now more. He died today here. He was 80. 

Mandi press and media fraternity of Himachal mourned his death.  Katyayan has remained an active journalist till his sad demise today. 

Katyaan stood for principal and ethical standards in Journalism in Hindi language.  He never compromised on his principles and stood for fair and factual reporting.     

He wrote for  The Tribune group of Newspapers and other papers during his long career in journalism.  

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has mourned the demise Hemkant Katyaan, who passed away at Mandi last night. He was 80.

The Chief Minister said that the contribution of Hemkant Katyayan in the field of journalism was immense and will be remembered for a long time.

He said that Hemkant Katyayan had upheld the ethics of journalism in high esteem.

Sh. Sukhu prayed to the Almighty to give peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss.
