SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar urged people to adopt swadeshi in the Amrit Mahotsav period when the nation is celebrating 75 years of Independence.
Addressing the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav programme at Nalagarh in Solan district today as the chief guest governor said we have to decide in which direction we have to go in the coming 25 years and what would be our contribution in the development of the nation.
He said in this Amrit Mahotsav, we also need to look at the past. "The foreign invaders including Britishers destroyed our culture, traditions and education system", he charged.
"Our ancestors could not even think of freedom", he added. "Indians in a large number sacrificed their lives to get us freedom. We all need to understand the meaning of this freedom", he added.
Referring to the pain of the partition of the country, the Governor said that there was a need to remember this sad incident in history.
He said we have to remember all those sacrifices due to which we were living in a free nation. "We could remember our great freedom fighters by joining the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign".
This campaign was not a subject of any party or organization but of the whole country, so we were all associated with this campaign, he said.
The Governor also gave away the prizes to the best employees of the company and people who did excellent work in his field.
Indresh Kumar, Executive Member of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh while congratulating the Microtek Company for organizing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav said such activities would also inspire others to contribute to the National cause.

He said that in the present context, slogans and campaigns like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Har Ghar Tiranga were also associated with nationalism.
Earlier, Subodh Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, Microtek and Chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh honoured and welcomed the Governor on the occasion.
