KULLU: Baragarh spa and resort Magnet Nakul Khullar motivated the Haripur college students on tourism industry, saying that there is no short cut to success in life. “You build up step by step with right samskaras, right education and by giving your hundred cent per cent to something you choose to make it big in life”, he said.
Addressing the students and the teaching faculty at the government college Haripur near Naggar in Kullu district on the topic of tourism industry Nakul Khullar said the first pillar of success is laid right at the childhood, when the children learn to respect parents, elders, their gurus for that matter everyone in society. As students they should respect teachers who are their true mentors and are more experienced and can guide you in the right direction, he said.
Khullar said the Kullu valley, for that matter Himachal is Dev Bhoomi, where people know no deception and respect for guests is inherent. “You can make or break your careers. You should respect your parents, elders, teachers and everybody. You cannot command respect, if you don’t respect others. The teachers are your mentors and know more and as such you must listen to them, assess and assimilate their thoughts, he said.
Talking about the tourism and hospitality industry, Khullar cited his own experience in the industry, emphasising that they must take inspiration from our own home where we treat our guests with great respect-- Atithi Devo Bhav, our guests are like god-like figure. “We get all kinds of guests or tourists- Bollywood stars, VVIPs including Chief Ministers along with their assistants and other staff in Baragarh spas”, he added.
“But this does not mean that we have to look after and respect the stars and VVIPs only, we have to respect each and every body, who come with them and enter the hotel, restaurant or spas or resort”, Khullar said. “Aadar and Satkaar are the two basic mantras that should guide those who choose hospitality and tourism as their vocation and dream in life”, added Nakul, who had many awards to his kitty and who has performed roles in films as well.
The house keeping is an essential part of the hotel industry, he said. “House-keeping ensures your unit- hotel, home stay or restaurant is spic and span and so should be the cutlery and tables and rooms and every details of your unit”, he added emphasizing that cleanliness is next to godliness.
Khullar said the main pillar of your success in life is education. “I got right education from my parents, schooled from Sanawar and got college education from DAV Chandigarh before I chose tourism sector and pursued it by giving my cent per cent to this”, he said.
He said the students should be focused, chose profession and then pursue and go full steam with it by giving hundred percent to make it a mission in life. “Himachal offers golden opportunities in the tourism industry, do not miss them and choose the right thing at the right time and success will embrace you in life- all you need is motivation, urge and determination to do it”, Kullar said.
