Prime Minister Narender Modi today announced a three-pronged strategy to fight the possible third wave of Omicron variant in the country for vaccination of the vulnerable falling between 15-18 age group from January 3. The healthcare and frontline workers will also get the precautionary vaccine dose and  the senior citizens above  60- age group  can also get booster dose, he added.  

Prime Minister made these announcements to tackle the possible third wave of Omicron variant whose cases have increased to 420 cases today.   

 The precautionary vaccine dose for the health care and   frontline workers will start from January 10, 2022 in the country. The senior citizens who have comorbidities can also take the booster dose from January 10.

Drug Controller of India has already given its clearance to the health authorities for the vaccination for the children in the  15-18  age group and the booster doze to senior citizens and frontline workers to fight the outbreak of the Omicron variant in the country.
