Himachal Pradesh Cadre Retd. IAS Tarun Shridhar Takes Charge as Director General of ICFA; Farmers Pin Hopes on Agricultural Revival
SHIMLA: In a significant development for the agriculture sector, retired IAS officer Tarun Shridhar of the Himachal Pradesh cadre has assumed the role of Director General of the Indian Chamber of Food and Agriculture (ICFA).
This change comes with high expectations from the farming community, who are optimistic about policies grounded in real-world insights and the potential revival of India’s agricultural economy.
The reconstitution of ICFA's board has also brought in former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu as the Chairman, signaling a strong leadership team ready to steer agricultural progress.
ICFA, recognized as the apex national body in food and agriculture, serves as a think tank, policy research and advocacy center, and trade facilitation organization, dedicated to strengthening India's agriculture sector.
With Shridhar at the helm, there is hope that his on-ground experience and deep ties with farming communities will translate into impactful policies that address pressing issues faced by farmers, agri-professionals, and stakeholders across the trade, industry, and research sectors.
The farming community has responded with enthusiasm, with many voicing hope that the ICFA under Shridhar’s guidance will work on actionable solutions to uplift their livelihoods and address systemic challenges.
As ICFA continues to act as a voice for these stakeholders, farmers anticipate more inclusive, sustainable, and growth-oriented policies aimed at strengthening the agricultural foundation of the nation.
