Chetan Bragta Slams Congress Government Over Apple Growers' Plight Demand Sale of Apple
Shimla, August 6, 2024:BJP state spokesperson Chetan Bragta has accused the Congress government of adopting a "dictatorial attitude" by not mandating the sale of apples as per *Dar* in state Mandis as is being done in Pinjore and other outside Mandis.
He emphasized that growers are being exploited due to fluctuating prices in state markets, despite repeated appeals.
Bragta criticized the Congress for ignoring the severe impacts of drought and recent heavy rains on apple orchards, which have led to various diseases.
He claimed the government is discriminating against growers by selectively providing medicines through PPP centers.
"Due to drought and storms, apple growers have suffered significant losses.
The government has not even assessed the damage, let alone provided compensation," Bragta stated.
He pointed out that under former Horticulture Minister Narendra Bragta, apple collection centers opened by July 15, a practice not followed this year.
Bragta warned that if the government does not address the issues promptly, growers will be forced to protest.
"This despotic attitude of the Congress government towards apple growers will not be tolerated," he declared.
