SOLAN: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the Rs. 28.38 crore Apple and Fruit Market in Solan and the Terminal Mandi in Parwanoo. The projects aim to boost the agricultural and horticultural sectors in the district.
It was funded by the Himachal Pradesh State Agricultural Marketing Board and Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC).
The up-gradation and strengthening of the approach road and parking in Terminal Mandi, Parwanoo, were completed with an outlay of Rs. 18.50 crore, CM said.
Chief Minister Sukhu said Himachal Pradesh Shiva Project will further support the horticulture sector with an investment of Rs. 1292 crore in Solan, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur, and Una.
The project aims to promote the cultivation of fruits like orange, guava, pomegranate, litchi, plum, persimmon, and mango.
He said the government has sanctioned Rs. 23 crore for road repairs, especially in apple-growing areas, ensuring smooth transportation of produce to markets.
Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. (Col) Dhani Ram Shandil, and Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister, Chandra Kumar, also lauded the projects' impact on Solan's agricultural growth.
During the inauguration, the 'Arhtiya Welfare Association,' Solan, and the 'Uttrakhand Bhratri Mandal,' Solan, contributed Rs. 11 lakh and Rs. 51 thousand, respectively, towards the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.
