Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur  urged Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman  to enhance import duty on apple to benefit the apple growers of the state. He said that apples from other countries is coming into Indian market and affecting the apple economy of the state.

Meanwhile,  Chief  Minister had also raised this issue earlier, but the Centre has yet to take call on this. The apple farmers of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir have been demanding a ban  or high import duties on import of large volume of Iranian apples, which have adversely hit the domestic apples in Indian Markets.     

Thakur  also requested for extending Industrial Development Subsidy Scheme for two more years and added that the scheme is closing during the current year.

Chief Minister also requested for Special Central Assistance for construction of Mandi airport. He also requested for enhanced Central Special Assistance to Himachal.

He also detailed the Union Minister about the focus on women empowerment schemes during the Budget presented for coming financial year.

Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh gave valuable inputs about state's demands. Union Finance Minister assured the Chief Minister of all possible help to the state.

He also discussed about setting up of Pharma testing lab in Baddi in a speedy manner which would benefit local Pharma entrepreneurs for testing their products in the state itself.

Earlier, Chief Minister also held a meeting with the Vice Chairman NITI Aayog Dr. Rajeev Kumar. Members of the Aayog, Distinguished Experts and senior officers were present in the meeting. Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh gave valuable inputs about state's demands.
