DHARAMSHALA: President of India, Dr Ram Nath Kovind on Friday presented Gold Medals to ten meritorious students during the 6th Annual Convocation of Central University of Himachal Pradesh in a function held here today.
President of India also addressed the Convocation function on the occasion.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur in his address, while congratulating the students said despite being a small state, Himachal Pradesh has shown a way to several big states in the field of education and the credit of this goes to the teachers of this hilly state.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the Central University would soon have its own campus to facilitate the faculty and students of the University.
He said that providing self-employed and innovative education has been the motto of Himachal Pradesh Central University, as a result of this, more than 400 students were getting medals and degrees.
He said that this also shows that University has made splendid progress over these years. The credit of recent development that the State has achieved is possible due to the benevolence of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Jai Ram Thakur said that the one should never leave the tendency and desire to learn, since it should be a never ending and continuous process. Nation is successfully guided by the Prime Minister during the testing times of pandemic, he said.
Chief Minister presented PhD. degrees to meritorious students on the occasion.
Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh Central University Prof. S.P Bansal welcomed the President and other dignitaries and presented the progress report of the University. University is striving hard to provide career oriented education to the students with special focus on research.
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, Member of Parliament Kishan Kapoor, Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh Central University Prof. H.S. Bedi, Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu and others were present.
