SHIMLA: SJVN’s 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station (NJHPS), the nation’s hydroelectric crown jewel, has achieved its design energy generation of 6612 million units for FY 2024-25, a remarkable feat accomplished in just eight months.
This marks the second-fastest achievement in its history, following the record set in November 2011.
Operating at a staggering 1650 MW with 110% plant overloading for 116 days, NJHPS demonstrated unmatched efficiency, braving high silt levels in the Satluj River without a single shutdown, said SJVN spokesperson.
SJVN attributed this success to its dedicated workforce, robust technical expertise, and support from the Ministry of Power, the Himachal Pradesh government, local administration, and communities.
This milestone underlines the potential of India’s hydroelectric projects in advancing energy self-reliance and sustainability. NJHPS continues to set benchmarks, reinforcing its commitment to powering India’s green future.
