Shimla, December 17, 2024: The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University, Prof. Rajendra Verma, felicitated former faculty member Dr. N.S. Bisht from the Department of Economics with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
This honor was conferred upon Dr. Bisht during the 45th Annual Conference of the Indian Association for Population Studies held at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, from December 12 to 14.
Dr. Bisht received this recognition for his significant contributions to research and studies in the fields of population, health, and development.
Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Rajendra Verma emphasized that Dr. Bisht’s achievements bring pride not only to the university but also to academia.
He stated, “Dr. Bisht's distinguished research and academic journey set an example for all. Such recognition motivates us to learn and grow through the valuable experiences of stalwarts like him.”
He added that Himachal Pradesh University always seeks support from experienced and accomplished faculty members, as their expertise enriches the learning experience for students and helps establish a strong academic foundation.
Dr. Bisht has served in various capacities as an advisor, researcher, and expert for several reputed organizations, including the Integrated National Development Programme, the Food and Agriculture Organization, the National Family Health Survey, and NITI Aayog. His extensive work has contributed significantly to policy-making and developmental studies in India.
The event was attended by senior university officials, including Dean of Students’ Welfare Prof. Mamta Mokta, Director of Microbiology Prof. Latawar Chokle, Director of the Population Research Centre Prof. Chhagan Dhemu, Coordinator of the Planning Division Prof. S.S. Narta, Prof. Sunil Deshta, and Dr. R Sharma, Chairperson of the Department of Population Studies.
