Lata’s career started in music direction. She adopted pseudonym, Anand Khan and composed music for Marathi films briefly in the 1960s. At five, she acted in her father’s plays called Sangeet Natak in Marathi and learned music from her father, who excelled in Marathi and Konkani music. Lata dropped from the school. Her first performance was at the age of nine.
