SHIMLA: Brigadier Rohit Dutta Group Commander, Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday announced the setting up of the NCC Air Wing (Junior Division) at DAV Lakkar Bazar, Shimla.
Brig Dutta made this announcement in the school today in the presence of Col. D R Gargey, officer in command 7 HP (I) NCC Coy and principal of DAV Lakkar Bazar, Ms. Kamna Beri and others in a befitting ceremony demonstrated by the school NCC cadets.
It has come as a proud and historical moment for DAV School, which has been contributing a brave fleet of officers to Indian armed forces ever since its inception in 1934, stated Ms. Beri.
The establishment of the NCC Air wing will give a new wing to the school cadets, who are willing to serve the motherland by joining the armed forces.
NCC army wing cadets welcomed Brig Dutta and Col Gargey and others with a guard of honour in the school campus.
Addressing the NCC Army cadets and students of school, Brig Dutta said he was delighted to visit the institution which was established in 1934 that has added many distinguished officers to the fleet of armed forces over the years.
He further emphasized that along with the academics, there is a need to inculcate the feeling of patriotism and love for the country amongst the students.
He announced that NCC Air Wing cadets would also get the opportunity of flying if it would be possible to bring two aircrafts of NCC Air Wing of Himachal Pradesh from Patiala, where they have been stationed for the last three years, to Himachal Pradesh.
The program concluded with the singing of NCC song "Hum Sab Bhartiya Hain". The whole atmosphere resonated with Bharat Mata ki Jai Ghosh.
