SHIMLA: Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu today said the police have been able to control crime through "predictive or evidence-based policing" and making Himachal Pradesh a safer place to live in for its people.
Releasing the crime data for 2021, Kundu said the crime against person and property has reduced and police have also taken strong action against organised crime. They took sustained action against illicit drug trafficking, liquor smuggling, illegal mining in the state, he added.
He said the police have achieved success in our objectives to manage crime against "women and children". The police have addressed drug trafficking and drug trafficking operators (DTOs) by financial investigation and seizure and attachment of properties. Kundu said they reduce road traffic accidents, deaths and injuries thereof, through better analytics and resource deployment.
The police also addressed the organised crime which inter-alia includes illegal mining. wildlife crime, liquor smuggling by effective steps like financial investigation. and seizure of ill-gotten properties. (See Crime data chart)
