Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has tightened rules on e-waste disposal.
All government offices must now follow the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016. The move comes after violations of pollution control norms were found.
An Office Memorandum (dated 9th December 2024) makes it mandatory to dispose of e-waste through authorized recyclers, dismantlers, or collection centers. Only agencies registered with HPSPCB or CPCB can participate in e-waste auctions.
New E-Waste Disposal Guidelines:
No dumping in open spaces or with general waste.
Only authorized recyclers can collect e-waste.
Government offices must follow rules for disposal.
Public and NGOs urged to spread awareness.
E-waste contains toxic chemicals that harm the environment and health.
The government urges everyone to dispose of it responsibly.
