Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has tightened rules on e-waste disposal.

All government offices must now follow the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016. The move comes after violations of pollution control norms were found.

An Office Memorandum (dated 9th December 2024) makes it mandatory to dispose of e-waste through authorized recyclers, dismantlers, or collection centers. Only agencies registered with HPSPCB or CPCB can participate in e-waste auctions.

New E-Waste Disposal Guidelines:

No dumping in open spaces or with general waste.

Only authorized recyclers can collect e-waste.

Government offices must follow rules for disposal.

Public and NGOs urged to spread awareness.

E-waste contains toxic chemicals that harm the environment and health.

The government urges everyone to dispose of it responsibly.

Himachal Pradesh is working towards a cleaner and greener future, said the spokesperson of tge department.
