NEW DELHI: Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has batted for a human-centric multilateral world for human-centric global progress during India's G20 Presidency. He has advocated the idea that the world should be seen as one family, transcending borders and ideologies.
In his message viral on social media platform PM Modi highlighted three key changes in the post-pandemic world order.
First. The need to shift focus from GDP-centered views to human-centric perspectives.
Second. The recognition of resilience and reliability in global supply chains.
Third, The call for boosting multilateralism by reforming global institutions.
Under India's G20 Presidency, efforts have been made to mainstream the aspirations of developing countries, especially those in the Global South and Africa.
Initiatives like the Voice of Global South Summit and increased African participation in the G20 have aimed to foster inclusivity.
To address interconnected global challenges, PM Modi pointed out the importance of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). India's G20 2023 Action Plan focuses on accelerating progress on SDGs.
India has a long history of living in harmony with nature, and PM Modi emphasized the need for complementary climate action in developing countries.
He called for a shift towards constructive climate solutions, highlighting initiatives like the Chennai HLPs for a Sustainable and Resilient Blue Economy and global efforts in clean and green hydrogen.
PM Modi also mentioned efforts to democratize climate action and promote sustainable lifestyles.
He cited the International Year of Millets and the Deccan High Level Principles on Food Security and Nutrition as steps toward ensuring food security.
Technology's transformative power should be made inclusive, PM Modi said. India has demonstrated how technology can narrow inequalities, and the G20 will assist developing countries in adopting digital public infrastructure to promote inclusive growth.
The Indian Prime Minister stressed the role of women in various sectors and their contribution to India's development. India's G20 Presidency is working on reducing gender disparities and increasing women's participation in leadership roles.
PM Modi described the G20 Presidency as a people-driven movement, with over 200 meetings held across India, involving nearly 100,000 delegates from 125 countries.
He highlighted India's demography, democracy, diversity, and development, inviting the world to experience them firsthand.
