SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today honored the Indian Kabaddi teams, both men and women, for their remarkable gold medal victories at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
The Chief Minister commended the athletes for their outstanding performance, acknowledging their contribution in bringing pride to both the state and the nation through their exemplary display of strength and talent.
During a special event organized by the Himachal Pradesh Kabaddi Association at Peterhoff, Chief Minister Sukhu lauded Indian squad's achievements winning record-breaking 107 medals.
Among the members recognized during the ceremony included Ritu Negi, the captain of the Indian women's Kabaddi team, along with Nidhi Sharma, Pushpa Rana, Sushma Sharma, and Vishal Bhardwaj, a member of the Indian men's Kabaddi team, all hailing from Himachal.
Chief Minister Sukhu said women players from Himachal are a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes in the state.
He announced the government's plans to organize a grand event to honor these athletes who have brought glory to Himachal.
Moreover, he expressed the government's commitment to enhancing the sports policy and strengthening sports infrastructure within the state.
The President of the Himachal Pradesh Kabaddi Association, Raj Kumar Nittu, welcomed the Chief Minister and briefed him about the association's ongoing activities.
