The state cabinet has extended the planning area in Shimla, Chopal, and Kullu, focusing on addressing challenges from unplanned development.
Shimla city, will have 8 new green zones, expanding the green areas. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu stressed the need to balance development and the environment, learning from the recent monsoon disaster.
The initiative aims to protect green belts, minimize ecological footprints, and promote sustainable development.
The decision involves amending Chapter 17 of the Development Plan, reflecting the government's commitment to environmental preservation.
Similar measures are planned for Kullu and Chopal to control haphazard construction, with a focus on promoting E-vehicles and harnessing green energy for sustainable development.
