Shimla: Dr. Rajiv Bindal, the BJP Pradesh Adhyaksh (State President) in Himachal Pradesh, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing 5 kilograms of free grains to 80 million poor citizens, extending the scheme for the next 5 years as a Diwali gift.
He highlighted the Central government's consistent efforts to provide affordable essentials, particularly wheat flour, to every household.
In contrast, Bindal criticized the Congress-led state government for increasing the prices of pulses just before Diwali, affecting consumers. The price hikes include an increase of 9 rupees per kilogram for dal (pulses) and 10 rupees for refined oil.
This move has affected over 1.9 million families in Himachal Pradesh, causing a significant burden due to rising prices.
Moreover, Dr. Bindal pointed out that the previous BJP government had reduced diesel prices by 7 rupees, a move that the Congress government reversed, making diesel 7 rupees more expensive in the state.
This decision has cost the people of Himachal Pradesh approximately 1500 crore rupees, contributing to a notable increase in inflation in the region.
The Congress government was also criticized for raising electricity prices, imposing various taxes, and increasing the prices of various commodities, including bus fares, thereby causing inconvenience to the public.
Dr. Bindal concluded by suggesting that the Congress government's actions contradict their 2022 electoral promises, indicating an adverse impact on the state.
