SHIMLA: BJP District Shimla took out a silent Procession in the city here on August 14 which the party remembered as the Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Divas in the memory of those who were displaced and killed during the partition of the country.
The procession started from CTO went through The Mall road and ended at Oakover where Chief minister Jairam Thakur received the party participants.
Chief minister Jairam Thakur said the pain of partition of the country can never be forgotten. August 14 will be remembered as Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas, he added.
Because of hatred and violence, lakhs of our sisters and brothers were displaced and even lost their lives, he said.
In memory of the struggle and sacrifice of those people, it has been decided to celebrate 14th August as Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas, Thakur said.
Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas will not only inspire us to eliminate the poison of discrimination, animosity and ill-will, but it will also strengthen unity, social harmony and human sensibilities, Chief Minister said.
Among the participants were UD Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Chairman Roopa Sharma, Ganesh Dutt, district president Ravi Mehta, BJP State office bearers Kusum Sadret, Pyar Singh Kanwar and Karan Nanda and Hitesh Sharma.
