Drug-Free India Campaign Reignites Amid Political division  in Himachal Pradesh... as state govenor has considered as agent of the Centre...

Shimla: The Drug-Free India campaign was launched  in Himachal Pradesh,  with the efforts to combat drug addiction while sparking political controversy.

This day or other day one or other government launched/ announced the drug free campaign in the state.

But the drug victims continue to die leaving  many families shattered in the state.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla  flagged off the campaign from Raj Bhavan today.

This 40-day initiative across Shimla district is organized by Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya.

Governor Shukla praised the Brahma Kumari Seva Kendra, Panthaghati, for their dedication to de-addiction.

He stressed the harmful impact of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society, recommending the educational videos produced by the Brahma Kumaris be shown in schools and colleges.

The campaign's revival has political implications. Initially announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the 2022 assembly elections, it was part of the Modi government's commitment to a drug-free India.

Despite this, the BJP was voted out, and the Congress government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu took power.

Critics argue that the campaign's relaunch by a Governor appointed by the previous BJP government is an attempt to regain political traction.

In response, the Sukhu government claims it has maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and launched its own anti-drug initiatives focused on stricter enforcement and community outreach.

Governor Shukla's event included inspecting a vehicle equipped with de-addiction information, emphasizing ongoing efforts to address the drug issue.

The timing and nature of the campaign have led to accusations of political motivations, highlighting the complex interplay between public health efforts and political strategies in Himachal Pradesh.

Secretary to the Governor, Rajesh Sharma, was present at the event, which underscores the competing claims of both the BJP and Congress in the fight against drug addiction.

The effectiveness of these campaigns will be judged by their impact on reducing drug use and supporting affected communities. So many campaigns but the drug addiction continues to thrive among the youth in Himachal
