SHIMLA: President of India has appointed Smt. Justice Sabina, senior-most Judge, High Court of Himachal Pradesh, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of this High Court from 21.01.2023.
She was assigned duties of the office of Chief Justice, following the retirement of Justice Amjad Ahtesham Sayed, Chief Justice.
The notification to this effect has been issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Justice, Government of India, today itself.
Smt. Justice Sabina, was born on 20.04.1961. She was unanimously, selected as Joint Secretary of Bar Association of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the year 1986.
Thereafter, she was appointed as Additional District Judge and joined as such on 21.01.1997 and subsequently became Sessions Judge in September, 2004.
Smt. Justice Sabina was elevated as Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court on 12.03.2008.
She was transferred to Rajasthan High Court and assumed office of a Judge of Rajasthan High Court on 11.04.2016.
Justice Sabina was transferred to the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, and took oath on 08.10.2021. On an earlier occasion also Smt. Justice Sabina was appointed to perform duties of the office of Chief Justice from 25th May 2022 to 22nd June 2022.
