SHIMLA: In a stride towards clearing pending legal matters, Himachal Pradesh recently witnessed a National Lok Adalat held across all courts in which 34 K cases were resolved and Rs 101 Crore as compensation was awarded.
Under the esteemed patronage of Hon’ble Shri Justice Mamidanna Satya Ratna Sri Ramachandra Rao, Chief Justice, High Court of Himachal Pradesh, and guided by Hon’ble Shri Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Judge, High Court of Himachal Pradesh, the event aimed to provide speedy justice to litigants.
"One of the most satisfying aspects of this National Lok Adalat was witnessing the resolution of over 34,000 cases, a significant step towards alleviating the burden on our legal system and ensuring timely justice for our citizens," said Virender Sharma, District & Sessions Judge, and Member Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.
The results were remarkable, with over 83,000 cases taken up, out of which more than 34,000 cases were successfully resolved, resulting in the recovery or awarding of over ₹101 Crore.
This highlights the effectiveness of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms like Lok Adalats in tackling case backlogs and delivering timely justice.
