Shimla: All is set if national Lok  Adalat in Himachal Pradesh for which HP Stare Legal  Services Authority has identified over 60K cases so far.

Under the auspices of Hon’ble Shri Justice Mamidanna Satya Ratna Sri Ramachandra Rao, Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh, and the guidance of Hon’ble Shri Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, a National Lok Adalat is slated to convene across all courts in the State of Himachal Pradesh on 9th March 2024.

The forthcoming  Adalat aims to provide a platform for the amicable resolution of disputes, with a particular focus on expediting the settlement of Motor Vehicle Challans, which can now be paid online through the ePay (eCourts Digital Payment) system, a convenience extended by the Courts of Traffic Magistrates.

In preparation for the  Adalats various stakeholders, including local bodies, NGOs, representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, Para Legal Volunteers, and Public Transport Services, are actively engaged in raising awareness among the litigant public.

Efforts include disseminating information through Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials.

With over 60,000 cases identified for potential settlement, ongoing coordination efforts with local Bar Associations, Insurance Companies, Banks, and Financial Institutions seek to ensure effective case identification and participation.

Recognizing the crucial role of the media, both print and electronic, in promoting legal awareness, the organizers have urged for wide coverage of the National Lok Adalat.

This endeavor aims to ensure that the litigant public is well-informed and can avail themselves of the opportunity for dispute resolution on the designated date.

Virender Sharma, the District & Sessions Judge and Member Secretary, HPSLSA expressed optimism regarding  its  success, emphasizing the importance of widespread dissemination of information to facilitate the resolution of disputes and promote legal awareness among the public.

The National Lok Adalat represents a significant initiative towards fostering a culture of alternative dispute resolution and ensuring timely justice delivery.
