LEH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, like on other occasions, joined national in celebrating Diwali with the soldiers in the forward areas of Kargil in Ladakh, a home to world’s highest war zone, bolstering their Josh in the bone-chilling climes of Himalaya.
DIwali festivities were marked with election meetings by ambitious leaders making the celebrations to woo the votes with gifts.
There were charchas across the state of Himachal where the people would elect a new government on November 12.
Candidates moved from villages to villages facing wrath of the voters as they did not find performance up to the mark.
But the Diwali festivities were went on with people lighting their houses and premises with diyas and lights bursting crackers to drive on good will, happiness and wealth and driving away the ill-will hatred and evil spirits.
As in the past, Prime Minister donned himself in Indian army fatigues, chose to celebrate Diwali among his "Parivar"- Indian soldiers in the bone-chilling climes of Ladakh.
He was escorted to the Kargil War memorial, where he paid his tributes to the fallen soldiers soon after he airdashed in Kargil.
Prime Minister was treated to the musical orchestra played by the army jawans singing “Ma Tujhe Salaam…Bande Matram.. ”.
Modi was also mingled freely, clapped and gyrated with the jawans who were from Tamil Nandu, who treated him to a famed Tamil song.
Later Prime Minister in his brief address said the soldiers serving the motherland mainly in the borders area his family members and he enjoyed every moment of celebrating Diwali with them.
He said he was lucky enough to celebrate festival of lights among the soldiers.
