Haridwar-Rampur HRTC bus (HP06A,3678) was on its way from Shimla to Rampur when it skidded on the icy layer of descending road near Galu. The bus broke its wind screen and the front when it hit the truck from behind, with the passengers getting hurt due to the big Jolt.
The team of officials led by DC Shimla, Aditya Negi rushed to spot and corrected the skiddy stretch of the highway.
Even as the P{WD and NHAI are putting the sand on the icy layer on the surface of the road but the vehicles skid at the slightest error, speeding and sudden application of breaks in driving on the hardened-snow roads, said the commuters.
There are stretches on the Chambi-Khirki-Chharki-Riuni stretch in Chopal, Nihari-Kharapathar stretch of the Theog-Hatkoti highway and Shilaroo-Narkanda-Kumarsain, stretch of the Shimla-Narkdanda-Rampur Highway, which need more spreading of sand and widening of the curves and bends, which pose hazards of collision and skidding, they pointed out.
