SHIMLA: As many as 12 DAV schools from the Zone A participated in the two-day long DAV National Sports Tournament, which concluded here with a sportive fever and fervour in the premises of DAV New Shimla on October 8.
After the Corona Period, the sports meet turned out be a rejuvenator not only to the teams, but also to the students and teachers of the DAV New Shimla, who cheered the teams for their performance in the playfields.
The tournament featured three games- Basketball, Volleyball and Chess in which all the 12 teams tried their best to win the medals. 
ARO, HP Zone A, Ms Kamna Beri launched the tourney by lighting the ceremonial torch on Friday in the presence of DAV New Shimla Principal Mr Rakesh K Chandel.
The chief guest inspected the marchpast presented by the 12 teams. The students also performed Shiv Stuti to solemnised the games.
In her address Ms. Kamna Beri inspired the students to play the games and expressed her happiness over the organisation of the sports meet that brought 12 different DAV schools together.
Principal DAV New Shimla Mr Rakesh K Chandel appealed to the students to participate in sports in a big way.
He said winning and losing is not important. It is the participation that makes all the difference, he added.
He congratulated the winners, participants and the entire team of teachers for their commitment and zeal towards promoting sports.
Award Ceremony was culminated with the DAV Anthem.
As many as twelve DAV teams took part in the sports meet. They included: DAV Lakkar Bazar, Dayanand Public School, Shimla, DAV Tutu, DAV Shoghi, DAV Theog, DAV Chopal, DAV Kotkhai, DAV Sarasvati Nagar, DAV Kumarsain, DAV Rampur and DAV Reckongpeo and the host, DAV New Shimla.
Both the boys and girls tried their best to win the titles in each game. The sports meet energized the students.

The Sports Observer Lakhbir Singh gave away the medals to winners and certificates to all the participants.
