SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh Governor, Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar urged the faculties to adopt Tuberculosis (TB) patients under the NikShay Mitra Yojana and make students aware about this initiative.
In a review meeting with the Vice-Chancellors of six universities of the State at Raj Bhavan today, he said number of TB patients in the State are quite less.
The targets can be easily achieved by efforts of all of you working in unison with the National Health Mission at district level, he said.
Universities need to decide the quality of education to be imparted.
The same should be reviewed from time to time with collective efforts of all professionals which would contribute significantly in policy making in the future, he added.
On-line evaluation should be encouraged so that the examination results of the universities are declared within the stipulated time, said the Governor.
Medicinal plants should be planted in the university campus and students must be made aware of the benefits of the same, irrespective of their stream, he added.
"Both agriculture and horticulture universities should jointly design a non-credit course for this and share it with other universities so that medicinal plants could reach every household" said the Governor.
Emphasizing on the expansion of Youth Red Cross activities at the university level, he said that there was a need to form new active units at various levels.
He said that more attention should be given on research activities and how it benefits the common people. He directed all the universities to get NAAC accreditation on the basis of a standardized system of quality education.
The Vice-chancellors also gave their valuable suggestions.
