Jubbal-Kotkhai, Shimla: Education Minister Rohit Thakur graced the closing ceremony of the cricket competition organized by Jai Banad Sports Club at Sundli, Jubbal.
Commending the club's 13-year commitment to promoting sports, Thakur highlighted the event's impact in curbing substance abuse, with 128 teams participating.
Expressing the state government's dedication to sports, Thakur assured accelerated development works in the area.
An impressive Rs 190 crore has been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana for Jubbal-Kotkhai, the highest in Himachal Pradesh.
Thakur emphasized the phased completion of road upgrades, addressing a loss of approximately Rs 130 crore.
Acknowledging contributors to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, Thakur thanked Jubbal resident Balwant Jhauta for a generous Rs 51 thousand and Sundli villagers for their Rs 31 thousand donation.
The state, grappling with significant losses due to a recent disaster, has allocated a special relief package of Rs 4500 crore.
In a spirited awards ceremony, Thakur presented GTC Bharana, the competition winner, with Rs 1 lakh and a trophy. JMC Khalai secured the runner-up position.
Thakur also pledged Rs 50 thousand to the Jai Banad Sports Club.
Prominent local figures, including Panchayat head Ashok Sarta and Vice President Panchayat Committee Yashwant Justa, joined the event, symbolizing a unified community effort towards sports and development in Jubbal-Kotkhai.
