Shimla: At Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government College in Sunni, Shimla, the long-awaited Annual Prize Distribution took place today after a four-year break. Dr. Amarjeet Kumar Sharma, Director of Higher Education, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
Principal Dr. Ramlal Sharma presented the college's yearly report, highlighting academic and extracurricular achievements.
As many as 120 academic prizes were awarded, along with 50 for outstanding volunteers from NSS/NCC/Rovers and Rangers. Sportspersons received mementos.
Students showcased their talents with Himachali folk dance, Nati, Punjabi Bhangra, and Gazals. The college, with 620 students in Arts, Commerce, and Science, has more girls (373) than boys (247).
Dr. Amarjeet Sharma praised the college for quality education to rural students.
He emphasized using technology wisely, enhancing skills for employability, and steering clear of substance abuse.
He applauded the college's efforts in organizing events for overall student development.
