SHIMLA: SJVN has received a green signal from the Mizoram government for the 2400 MW Darzo Lui Pumped Storage Project.

This comes through a Letter of Intent (LoI) issued on a nomination basis via an MoU.

The  project, SJVN's first in Mizoram, will be set up on Darzo Nallah, a tributary of the Tuipui River, informed SJVN  spokesperson.

The estimated cost is Rs 13,947.50 crore, including interest and financing costs as of April 2023.

The Darzo Lui project is an on-stream closed loop type, using a 770-meter head between upper and lower reservoirs.

The upper reservoir will be on a small stream of Hnahchanglui Nallah near South Vanlaiphai village in Hnahthial district, while the lower reservoir will be on Darzo Nallah, about 5.5 km upstream of its confluence with the Tuipui River near Vertek village.

As per the LoI, SJVN and the Mizoram government will finalize the agreement within three months.
