Jawalaji:   In this tiny  town nestled in the Himalayan foothills, the Kapoor Badminton Academy stands as a beacon for aspiring shuttlers.

At its helm is an accomplished Mr. Ravinder Kapoor. A former coach for the Indian badminton team, Mr. Kapoor's legacy is etched in over four decades of dedicated service to the sport.

As I dropped in Dawala   the sprawling academy dazzled me. It spans an impressive 10,000 sq. ft., boasting four Hova & Wooden courts where young players dazzled by their  shuttling skills while practicing in a bursts of shots.

Under the guidance of a professional team of coaches, the academy has become a nurturing ground for upcoming badminton talents in Northern India.

The hostel facilities provided by the academy accommodate both local talents and students from other states, totaling around 80 young athletes.

The emphasis on cleanliness and hygiene in the hostel, especially in the Mess, reflects the academy's commitment to providing a conducive environment for holistic development.

Recently, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) elevated the status of the Kapoor Badminton Academy from an extension center to a recognized Khelo India Centre, acknowledging its contribution to shaping the future of badminton in the region.

Among the shining stars emerging from the Kapoor Badminton Academy are members of the Kapoor family itself. Saurav Kapoor, a former captain of the Indian team and current player for RBI, has clinched the Haryana state championship a remarkable 12 times.

Gaurav Kapoor, a national medalist and three-time reigning champion in Himachal Pradesh, adds further glory to the family name.

The women of the Kapoor family are no less accomplished. Simran Kapoor, a former Haryana state champion and thrice HP State champion, is NIS qualified.

Karishma Kapoor, another former Haryana state champion, has transitioned to coaching under the Khelo India program.

The academy has not only produced champions within the Kapoor family but has also nurtured around 17 state champions who proudly represent Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana at the national level.

The Kapoor Badminton Academy stands not just as a training ground but as a symbol of a badminton dynasty, inspiring a generation of young players to dream big and excel in the world of badminton.
