Shimla: On the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Himachal Pradesh joins the nation in honoring Captain Vikram Batra, a hero of the 1999 Kargil War.
Born in Palampur, Captain Batra of the 13th Battalion, Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, led his company to capture critical points like Point 5140 and Point 4875 in daring operations.
On July 7, 1999, during the assault on Point 4875, despite being severely injured, Captain Batra continued to lead his troops with exceptional courage.
His rallying cry, "Yeh Dil Maange More," inspired his soldiers to press on and secure the objective, neutralizing enemy forces at close range.
For his extraordinary bravery, he was posthumously awarded the Paramvir Chakra.
Captain Batra's legacy, marked by his fearless leadership and ultimate sacrifice, continues to inspire many.

2. **Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav** - Awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his role in capturing Tiger Hill.
3. **Rifleman Sanjay Kumar** - Also received the Param Vir Chakra for his courageous actions at Point 4875. He was also a Braveheart from Bilaspur Himachal Pradesh.
4. **Lieutenant Manoj Kumar Pandey** - Posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his gallantry during the assault on Jubar Top.

On 7 July 1999, during the Kargil War, Captain Ghildiyal took command and led his company to capture an enemy position after his commanders were incapacitated. He successfully repelled a counterattack. Awarded the **Vir Chakra**.
Subedar Raghunath Singh
**Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (JAK RIF)**
On 7 July 1999, Subedar Raghunath led a frontal assault on Pt 4875 under heavy fire, neutralizing enemy positions and ensuring the capture of the objective. Awarded the **Vir Chakra**.
On 7 July 1999, Captain Prem Raj, despite being gravely wounded, directed precise artillery fire that inflicted heavy casualties on the enemy, securing the objective. Posthumously awarded the **Vir Chakra**.
**Jammu and Kashmir Rifles (JAK RIF)**
On 17 June 1999, Major Bhaskar captured Pt 5140, and on 7 July, he led the assault on Pt 4875, personally neutralizing enemy soldiers and securing the objective. Awarded the **Vir Chakra**.
