Una: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh is set to lay the foundation stone for the 32 MW (45 MWp) Pekhubella Solar Power Project on December 2, 2023, in Pekhubella.

The state aims to become the first green energy state by March 2026, aligning with the Chief Minister's ambitious target.

The construction contract for the Pekhubella Solar Project was awarded on May 19, 2023, utilizing a sprawling 59 hectares of land. The project will boast 82,656 solar modules, generating an impressive 66.10 million units of electricity annually.

The power generated will be transmitted through a 132 kV double circuit LiLo of Rakkar-Tahliwalline, spanning 1.88 km.

This eco-friendly initiative is projected to reduce carbon emissions by 2532 tonnes per year while simultaneously creating employment opportunities at the local level.

Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited has been tasked with installing 500 MW of solar power within two years, with the first 200 MW targeted for this fiscal year and the remaining 300 MW in 2024-25.

To finance the 200 MW installation, a loan agreement with the World Bank was signed on November 6, 2023.
