Shimla - SJVN announced the commencement of commercial operations of its 50 MW Gujrai Solar Power Station situated in Kanpur Dehat district, Uttar Pradesh.
This achievement boosts SJVN's total installed capacity to 2277 MW across ten operational power stations.
The project, executed by SJVN's renewable arm, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), at a cost of Rs. 281 crores, is expected to yield an annual revenue of approximately Rs. 32 crores. Anticipated to generate 107 million units of energy in its inaugural year, the station is projected to produce a cumulative 2477 million units over 25 years.
Chairman & Managing Director, Smt. Geeta Kapur, underscored SJVN's commitment to augmenting non-fossil fuel-based energy generation, aligning with the national objective of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.
SGEL secured the project through a competitive bidding process facilitated by the Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) in November 2022, at a tariff of Rs. 2.98 per unit. A 25-year Power Purchase Agreement has been inked with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL).
