Lions Club Shimla Conducts Plantation Drive at Craigneno Nature Park, Distribute jute bags for use of tourists

Shimla, August 11, 2024 — As part of its ongoing environmental initiatives, the Lions Club of Shimla organized a successful plantation drive at Craigneno Nature Park in Mashobra today.

Building on their previous efforts on July 14th in Dhanain, where over 120 saplings of Deodar, Walnut, and Khanoor were planted, the focus of this latest drive was to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the nature park.

More than 60 saplings of ornamental shrubs and trees were planted in and around the park by a dedicated team of Lions Club members.

Lion Man Mohan Verma, President of Lions Club Shimla, led the initiative alongside key members including Lion C.L. Sankhyan, Treasurer, Lion Gopal Vaid, Vice President, and other active members of the club.

"We are committed to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of our region. This plantation drive is a step towards making Craigneno Nature Park more vibrant and welcoming for visitors," said Lion Man Mohan Verma, President of Lions Club Shimla.

In addition to the plantation, the Lions Club took a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability by donating 100 eco-friendly jute bags to the Nature Park.

These bags are intended for visitors to collect and dispose of wrappers and other waste materials responsibly, ensuring the park remains clean and plastic-free. Visitors are encouraged to return the empty bags to the caretakers for reuse.

The staff of Craigneno Nature Park expressed their gratitude for this initiative, promising to encourage visitors to maintain the cleanliness of the park.

"We hope this small effort will go a long way in setting an example for other communities and organizations to follow," added Lion Verma.
