SHIMLA: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today announced the imminent launch of helicopter services to four destinations in Himachal Pradesh: Chamba, Palampur, Rakkar (Kangra), and Reckong-Peo under UDAN Scheme.
The primary goal is to make air travel more accessible to residents in remote and inaccessible areas, while also boosting tourism.
These helicopter services will not only enhance transportation options but also ensure affordability for people residing in remote regions of the state.
The government's priority is to transform Himachal Pradesh into a sought-after tourist destination while creating employment opportunities for local youth, Sukhu.
Consequently, the state is committed to improving tourism infrastructure, attracting high-end tourists, and expanding air connectivity.
To achieve these goals, the construction of heliports at district headquarters is underway, alongside the expansion of Kangra airport to accommodate A-320 type aircraft.
This expansion is aimed at establishing Kangra as the tourism capital of the state.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhu said the recent success in establishing air connectivity between Amritsar and Kullu, is expected to increase tourist footfall and revenue generation in the state.
