Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today released the first installment of Rs 31 crore to 3,800 disaster-affected families in Mandi district under the 'Rehabilitation' scheme.
The relief package includes Rs 3 lakh for completely damaged houses and full compensation for other affected individuals. The state faced significant losses due to monsoon-related disasters, totaling around Rs 12,000 crore.
The state government created a relief fund of Rs 230 crore, while claims of Rs 10,000 crore were submitted to the central government.
The compensation for various types of damage was increased, and the relief package is effective from June 24, 2023, to September 30, 2023.
The Chief Minister called for the disaster to be declared a national disaster but noted no financial assistance had been received.
He also laid the foundation stone of a new police station and received support from Congress leaders and local representatives for the relief efforts.
