SHIMLA: The ad war in Himachal is heating up.
BJP’s Jai Ram Thakur fired the first shot.
He accused the Congress of giving ₹2.34 crore in ads to National Herald.

Congress hit back — calling it a lie.
Naresh Chauhan, CM's Media Advisor, rubbished the claim.
He said only ₹1 crore worth of ads were given in 2.5 years.

He didn’t stop there.
He accused BJP of doing the same — but on a bigger scale.
Over ₹2.93 crore was allegedly spent by the Jai Ram govt on BJP-linked magazines.

The list is long.
Organiser, Panchjanya, Matrivandana — all RSS mouthpieces.
Even ABVP's Chhatra Udghosh and Tarun Bharat from Nagpur got lakhs.
Many of these, people had never even heard of.

Chauhan asked — why was BJP silent then?
Why the outrage now?
Is public money only a problem when it goes to Congress-linked media?

BJP also claimed National Herald isn't published anymore.
Chauhan called this ignorance.
He clarified it’s still running weekly — in both English and Hindi.

He accused BJP of trying to defame the CM.
And said the real aim is to target the Gandhi family.
Congress, meanwhile, hit the streets in protest.

But what’s being lost here is focus.
Himachal is dealing with salary delays, disasters, and debt.
Yet, politicians are busy fighting over newspaper ads.

This is not just about National Herald.
It’s about using government ads as political tools.
Both parties are guilty of funding friendly media.

Media should be independent — not a reward system.
But who cares, as long as the headlines are in your favour?

In the end, it's the public that suffers.
Their real issues are buried under political noise.
