Shimla: In a bid to ensure displaced Kashmiri citizens exercise their voting rights in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, Anupam Kashyap, announced a special voting facility.

Under the Election Commission of India's guidelines, displaced Kashmiris with authorized certificates from the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir can avail this facility.

Kashyap explained that eligible voters must fill either Form-M or Form 12-C through ERO-Net along with their displacement certificate. Additionally, the head of the family can register all eligible members by submitting the required forms to the Electoral Registration Officer or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer.

Displaced Kashmiris can also utilize special polling centers set up by the Commission in Delhi, Udhampur, and Jammu, or opt for postal ballots through Form 12-C. Forms are available for download on the Election Commission of India's website and Voter Service Portal.

Kashyap urged displaced Kashmiris to provide their mobile numbers for registration purposes and emphasized the importance of timely submission of forms to exercise their franchise in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
