Shimla, March 23 —Giving a life-saving push to the ongoing blood shortage, Lions Club Shimla, in collaboration with the District Red Cross Society, organized a Blood Donation Camp at the Ridge (Rain Shelter), Shimla.
The camp was inaugurated by ADM (Law & Order) Jyoti Rana, who lauded the club’s efforts and welcomed the initiative by presenting bouquets. Lions Club President Man Mohan Verma informed that 21 units of blood were collected with overwhelming participation from locals and tourists alike.
A medical team from Kamla Nehru Hospital, led by Dr. Kanchan Singh, managed the collection process. The donors were not only served nutritious refreshments but were also awarded certificates for their noble gesture.
Verma said the club regularly holds such camps to bridge the gap of blood availability in Shimla hospitals. "Recently, we have also organized health and eye check-up camps," he added.
The camp saw active participation from Project Chairperson Lion Kapil Sood, Secretary Lion M.K. Sharma, Treasurer Lion C.L. Sankhyan, along with Lions Ravi Sood, Sufal Sood, Daleep Kumar, and Umesh Sood (PRO). State and District Red Cross officials Sanjeev and Hemant were also present.
The Lions Club plans to continue such welfare activities throughout the year.
