CHOPAL(SHIMLA): Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced the release of Rs. 110 crore to restore vital link roads in Himachal Pradesh's apple-growing regions. The villgers of Kudi were shifted to saftet site earlier.
During his visit to the flood-hit Chopal assembly constituency, the Chief Minister assured affected families of all possible support and immediate assistance.
The Chhaila-Yashwant Nagar road, a crucial route connecting Solan and Chandigarh, will receive Rs. 70 crore for strengthening.
The Chief Minister also directed efforts to repair roads and provide compensation of Rs. 1 lakh each to affected families.
As many as 500 Houses were damaged in Chopal subdivision due to the recent floods.
Furthermore, Rs. 2 crore has been allocated for road connectivity in Chopal Division, along with Rs. 50 lakh for Sainj Sub Division of Theog.
To address sinking caused by heavy rains, the Chief Minister ordered the shifting of Kudi Village and pledged financial assistance for the affected residents' housing reconstruction. Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan and Education Minister Rohit Thakur have been actively assessing the situation and updating the Chief Minister.
The recent calamity has caused an estimated loss of around Rs. 8000 crore in Himachal Pradesh.
Despite inheriting significant debt, the State Government vows to allocate necessary funds to aid families affected by the disaster. The government will also work on installing retaining walls for permanent road stability.
The Chief Minister confirmed that a central team assessed the damages and anticipates the release of the first installment of interim relief from the Union Government.
Efforts to secure the remaining Rs. 315 crore from the Union Government under NDRF are ongoing.
In light of unprecedented damages to life and property, compensation amounts have been substantially increased.
Partially damaged houses will receive Rs. 1 lakh, and considerations are underway to enhance compensation for completely damaged houses.
The Chief Minister's visit included paying respects at Kaleshwari Mata Temple in Diyundar, Chopal. Education Minister Rohit Thakur, MLA Balbir Verma Congress Gen Secretary Rajanish Kimta and officials were present during the visit.
