SHIMLA: Chandigarh-Shimla national highway 05 connecting Solan to Chandigarh near Chakki mod has finally been reopened for light vehicles and pickups, marking the end of a four-day closure.
But the railways has closed the Shimla Kalka track till August 27 due to breaches on the track.
The opening Chaki Morh landslide has come as a major relief for commuters after a massive landslide had caused the entire road stretch to subside, leading to a prolonged disruption in traffic flow.
Solan police have confirmed that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) successfully cleared a 30-meter stretch, rendering it motorable once again.
Heavy traffic, however, continues to be diverted from Kumarhatti via Nahan, a route that has been in use for over ten days to Chandigarh.
For heavy vehicles, authorities urge adherence to the existing traffic plan to ensure safe and efficient movement.
The reopening of this crucial highway segment brings relief to commuters, but caution remains paramount as the area continues to recover from the aftermath of the landslide.
