Himachal Day Celebrated Amidst Lok Sabha Election Buzz

Shimla: In the midst of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, the 77th Himachal Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor across the state.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla presided over the state-level function held at the historic Ridge in Shimla, where the Tricolor was unfurled, and an impressive march past was conducted.

Leading the parade was IPS Abhishek, the Parade Commander, with contingents from the State Police, Home Guards, Bharat Scouts & Guides, and NCC cadets, showcasing the disciplined spirit of Himachal Pradesh.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu joined the celebrations, highlighting the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty that defines the hill state. Governor Shukla lauded the hardworking people of Himachal Pradesh for their resilience in overcoming geographical and economic challenges, driving rapid development in the region.

He emphasized the peaceful atmosphere and social harmony as the hallmarks of the state, setting it apart from others.

Reflecting on Himachal Pradesh's journey from its humble beginnings with the merger of 30 small hill princely states in 1948 to becoming a pioneer in hill development, Governor Shukla credited the unwavering dedication of its citizens. He expressed confidence in the state's continued progress and prosperity, urging the youth to channel their energy towards nation-building and to stand against social evils like drug abuse.

The Governor also paid tribute to the great sons of the state who contributed to its development, as well as the freedom fighters and martyrs who made supreme sacrifices for the nation's cause.

Amidst the festivities, the Governor appealed to all citizens to exercise their right to vote and ensure maximum participation in the democratic process.

The event also featured a colorful cultural program, attended by Health Minister Dr. (Col) Dhani Ram Shandil, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi, Lady Governor Janaki Shukla, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu, and other senior officials of the state government, adding to the vibrancy of the occasion.

As the Lok Sabha elections unfold, the celebration of Himachal Day serves as a reminder of the state's rich heritage and the collective aspirations of its people towards continued growth and prosperity.
