Shimla, September 13, 2024: CPI(M) Himachal Pradesh mourned the loss of Comrade Sitaram Yechury, who passed away on September 12, 2024, at 72, after a short illness.
A giant in the party, Yechury was a fierce voice for the underprivileged. His fight for justice and fairness left a deep mark on many, and his leadership sparked inspiration in countless activists.
At a condolence meet in Shimla, Comrades Kashmir Singh, Sanjay Chauhan, Jagat Ram, Rajender Chauhan, and hundreds of party members gathered.
Comrade Rakesh Singha, from the state secretariat, shared Yechury’s close ties with Himachal, pointing out how he shaped many movements in the state. Singha stressed Yechury’s role in pushing forward the working-class struggle.
As the party grieves, it promises to honor his memory by continuing the fight for justice. Yechury’s life, they said, will keep fueling the cause for a more equal world.
The CPI(M) also sent its condolences to his family, friends, and everyone touched by his journey.
