SHIMLA: Gaiety Theatre in Shimla hosted the 'DGP Disc Award' felicitation ceremony in which 304 cops got the DGP Discs for their good work.
The event featured the Governor of Himachal Pradesh as the Chief Guest, alongside Sanjay Kundu, DGP-HP, Abhishek Trivedi, ADGP-L&O, and senior officers from the Himachal Pradesh Police, including retired police officers Shri R.R. Verma, Shri T.R. Mahajan, and Shri S.R. Mardi Retd, all former DGPs.
The Governor addressed the gathering and highlighted the Police Department's initiatives in maintaining law and order, preventing and detecting crimes, and ensuring citizen safety.
He felicitated the Police Department for its achievements, such as ranking first in India for passport verification, third in the implementation of the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) in 2022, and first among 11 hilly and northeastern states in implementing CCTNS in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Additionally, he mentioned that Himachal Pradesh Police received the President's color from the President of India, making it the eighth state in the country to receive this honor.
The Governor commended the efficient traffic management and the decrease in road accidents, injuries, and fatalities.
He also praised the police department's dedication during recent disasters caused by heavy rain. The Governor congratulated the recipients of the "DGP Disc" and emphasized the importance of recognizing deserving police personnel for their achievements, as such awards boost morale and inspire better performance. In total, 304 police personnel were awarded the "DGP Disc" for their outstanding performance.
