HPTDC Rolls Out Winter Discounts to Revive Business Amid Low Occupancy

SHIMLA: With the festive rush of Christmas, New Year, and the Winter Carnival behind, Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) hotels are struggling with a sharp decline in occupancy.

To counter this, HPTDC has rolled out attractive discounts on room tariffs across its properties from January 3, 2025, to April 15, 2025, aiming to attract tourists and boost revenue.

HPTDC Managing Director Rajiv Kumar expressed optimism about the initiative, saying, "The winter season is traditionally a lean period for tourism, but we see it as an opportunity to offer travelers a serene experience in Himachal’s breathtaking landscapes at affordable rates".

These discounts are designed to encourage more tourists to explore the state during this quieter season."

Discounts Across Popular Units

Tourists can enjoy discounts of up to 30% at several prominent properties, including:

Manali: Hotel Kunzam and Rohtang Manalsu

Dalhousie: Hotel Geetanjali and Manimahesh

Shimla: Hotel Peterhof and Holiday Home

Kullu: Hotel Sarvari and Silvermoon

Renukaji: Hotel Renuka

Certain properties, such as The Spiti in Kaza and Kinner Kailash in Kalpa, are excluded from the scheme due to operational challenges or existing demand.

Marketing Push

HPTDC has instructed divisional heads, marketing officers, and travel agents to aggressively promote these offers. Kumar added, "We are committed to ensuring that every tourist is aware of these discounts.

This is not just about revenue; it’s about showcasing Himachal’s charm even in the off-season."

Note to Travelers

Travelers should note that during the Chheshu Festival at Rewalsar (March 6–10, 2025), discounts will not apply.

With the Himachal Pradesh High Court allowing all HPTDC hotels to continue operations, the corporation hopes these measures will rejuvenate its business and provide tourists with a memorable stay in the hills.
