DCM Mukest at IIT Mandi conclave on skill India on June 25

Mandi- Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has acquired the Skill Development Centre in Una.

The announcement was made during the G20 - S20 event held at IIT Mandi. The experts gathered there discussed  skill-based education for inclusive growth.

The Skill Development Centre in Una will now serve as a satellite center for skill development, catering to the needs of the wider public.

This collaboration between IIT Mandi and the Himachal Pradesh government aims to empower the youth and create more opportunities for skill development.

During his inaugural address, Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi, highlighted the crucial role of skill development in achieving an Atmanirbhar Bharat, or a self-reliant India.

He mentioned the institute's ongoing initiatives in areas such as bioenergy, climate-controlled agriculture, and biomedicine, which aim to create a skilled workforce and promote entrepreneurial opportunities for the country's youth.

Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh,  Mukesh Agnihotri who was the chief guest at IIT Mandi's  G20-S20 meet, expressed his support for the collaboration between the state government and IIT Mandi.

He emphasized the need for effective implementation of skill development projects to benefit the youth of the state and the nation as a whole.

Shri Agnihotri also announced the handover of the Skill Development Centre in Una to IIT Mandi, further strengthening their partnership.

The G20 - S20 event featured insightful discussions on various topics related to skill development, including vocational education, future of work, and inclusive growth.

Experts emphasized the importance of skill development in driving economic growth, reducing unemployment, and addressing the skills gap in different industries.

IIT Mandi's acquisition of the Skill Development Centre in Una signifies a major step forward in their efforts to nurture skilled professionals in various fields.

The institute is dedicated to promoting sustainable development, AI and robotics, cloud computing, and other emerging technologies.

These efforts align with national initiatives like Make-in-India and contribute to the vision of making India the Skill Capital of the world, as envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

With the newly acquired Skill Development Centre, IIT Mandi is poised to make a significant impact on skill development in the region, providing opportunities for the youth and contributing to India's journey towards self-reliance and inclusive growth.
