Mandi: In a crackdown on drug trafficking, Mandi Police have seized a total of 424.62 grams of hashish in two separate incidents, highlighting the persistent contraband trade in the region.
The first case unfolded during a routine inspection of a Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) bus by Sundernagar Police. Acting on a tip-off, authorities apprehended Nikhil Dawas and Ankit Kumar, both residents of Delhi, and recovered a substantial 415 grams of hashish from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Nikhil Dawas, son of Shri Narendra Singh Dawas, residing at 61 Chowk Wali Gali Salahpur Majra North Best Delhi-110081, and Ankit Kumar, son of Shri Priyavrat, from Village and Post Office Khaira.
A case has been registered against them under the Narcotics Act, and they are currently in police custody pending further investigation.
In the second incident, Sarkaghat Police intercepted Surendra Kumar, aged 39, from Village Jhanjhail (Sasnu), post office Ropardi tehsil, Sarkaghat district, Mandi (H.P.), and confiscated 9.62 grams of hashish from his possession. Surendra Kumar, son of Shri Sompal, now faces charges under the Narcotic Drugs Act as authorities pursue further legal action.
These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating drug smuggling activities in the Mandi region.
